(click on book to purchase) Light to medium bodied dry aromatic white wine grapes Chenin Blanc – From the Loire Valley, France and South Africa (Steen). Maybe also be recognized as Savennieres or Vouvray. Smells like honey and flowers. Tastes like honey and has refreshing acidity. It goes well with any light meal or alone with no meal at all. Riesling – From Germany and Alsace, France. Refreshing acidity, smells of honey and flowers. Tastes elegantly fruity. It goes will with light meals or alone with no meal at all. For the German version look for the word “Trocken” on the wine label. Pinot Gris – From Alsace, France. Loads of floral aromas. It tastes like a mouthful of stone fruit flavor and has refreshing acidity. It goes well with any light meal or alone with no meal at all. Gewurztraminer – From Germany and Alsace, France. Flowers, honey and spice are the primary aromas. Stone fruit, like apricot, and honey flavors mixed in with spice is what you taste. Great with spicy foods like Chinese or Tai. Viognier – From Southern France and Northern Rhone. Subtle flavors and aromas of stone fruit like peach and apricot. Will go with any light elegant meal or alone with no meal at all. Muscat – From Alsace, France. Muscat wines taste the grapiest of all wine grapes. Look for sweeter version of this wine grape with wine labels that say Moscato d’ Asti (Italy), or Moscadello di Montalcino (Italy). Sauvignon Blanc – From Bordeaux and Loire, France and New Zealand. The Bordeaux version of this grape will have a subtle smell of grass and flowers and have a distinctive “cat pee” aroma. Look for wine labels that say Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume also. The New Zealand version will smell the same only the aroma will be more pronounced without the “cat pee”. Both will taste fruity and have load of acidity to have with any light meal or alone with not meal at all.
